Sometimes I get depressed at the ugliness in the world, and I find it hard to leave my apartment because I just can’t face all the anger and meanness that can surround us when we’re on the subway or even walking on the sidewalk, minding our own business.
But when I feel so discouraged, I do know I have choices. I can stay home (I have a lovely library and a lot of photos to edit and videos to put together), or I can go outside and look for beauty. That beauty can be found in many places, I have discovered. One place is Carnegie Hall, where the magic of music can wipe away a lot of angst and anxiety. There are also art museums to visit, and dance performances to lose myself in.
And there are birds. And flowers. And birds nesting near the ocean. Nature in general can often ease the stresses and strains of living in very scary times. So I’ve decided to direct any readers who might stumble on this blog to my Spring Flowers 2024 page on this site and to offer some more photos through this Chronicler’s Tale.
I offer magnolias and tulips, wildflowers and cherry blossoms. Many photos were taken in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, but the flowers on the Spring Flowers 2024 page come from all over the city, as well as Westchester and Long Island (when I can upload those photos to the page).
