The flowers of spring are what set my heart racing, in the hope that so much beauty in the world means we are going to make it to summer, and with luck, even to fall and another winter! In New York, we see crocuses pushing up through snow or frost, promising renewal. The magnolia blossoms bring joy, as do the hellebore that often seems ubiquitous. Come spring, when I see daffodils, I am reminded that we’ll soon get tulips and irises. Joy, oh joy!
Here are some spring beauties photographed in Green-Wood Cemetery. There are tulips and magnolias, wildflowers and irises.
The blooms in this gallery were photographed at Green-Wood Cemetery in April and May 2024.
The star magnolia blossoms in this slide show were photographed March 21, 2024, in Central Park. Some of them are direct photos, and some were “colored in” with Photoshop.
Hellebore, also known as Christmas rose, are early arrivals to promise spring. These were photographed in Green-Wood Cemetery, March 14, 2024.
