White-breasted nuthatches (Sitta carolinensis) are some of the most entertaining birds I am fortunate to see in New York. They will talk to you if you listen, and if by any chance you have a peanut or seed on you, they will climb down a tree trunk to check you and the seed out. They are also very good at finding bird feeders.
