I've taken a lot of photos and video of eastern gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis), delightful rodents that have taken over Central Park and look so cute when they beg for peanuts. It is so hard to resist them.
This gray squirrel was poking his head out whenever a more mangy squirrel ran up the tree. He went back inside the hole when the mangy squirrel came down to chortle at him. Central Park, January 17, 2023
