A rare (for the Northeast) sage thrasher (Oreoscoptes montanus) visited the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge on May 17 and 18, 2019. This bird normally hangs out in the western part of the U.S., breeding around Idaho and wintering in Mexico, so this bird was totally out of his range, thus the rush to see him. I was able to see the bird on May 18. These birds eat bugs and berries, and there are definitely a lot of both at Jamaica Bay!
I set the video to music by Giuseppe Maria Cambini, the Allegro maestoso from his Wind Quintet No. 3 in F Major, played by Soni Ventorum and obtained from MusOpen.org, a royalty free music source.
