I have seen ring-necked pheasants (Phasianus colchicus) in two places in my wanderings in New York City: Floyd Bennet Field and the Salt Marsh Nature Trail in Marine Park, both places close together in Brooklyn.

I hadn’t been too successful in photographing and filming them, but on May 24, 2021, I did get head shots of a male and a female ring-necked pheasant at Marine Park.

My next trip to Marine Park on June 13, 2021, was much more successful, and I was able to spend quality time watching the pheasant pair feeding and hiding from all the human watchers. Since then, I have tried to visit the pheasants every Sunday, and have seen two families, one with older chicks, and on July 11, a Mama Pheasant with at least six tiny tykes. The shots in this slide show are from June and July 2021.
