Fox sparrows (Passerella iliaca) are some of the most beautiful sparrows to be found in the New York area. They can be seen foraging on the ground for insects. Because they a little bigger than other sparrows and spend so much time on the ground, they can be prey for kestrels and falcons. I have photographed them several times, but so far have posted this one photo, taken in Central Park on March 2, 2023.
